Internationally, many other hosting companies have reported the same problem. Fortunately, due to our multi-pronged, proactive approach with regards to malicious emails, we have been able to detect this surge early on and have implemented mitigation for it.<br>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What does this mean for you?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Don\u2019t panic! A SPAM attack means you\u2019ll perhaps see more <a href=\"https:\/\/www.domains.co.za\/blog\/email-is-not-dying-it-is-adapting-and-becoming-smarter\/\">emails<\/a> in your SPAM folder and experience a slight time delay when sending or receiving mails.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Malicious emails can <strong>only<\/strong> deploy a virus onto your computer <strong>after<\/strong> an action has been taken from your side. That is why it is so critical to remain vigilant when opening and reading emails.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Companies should note:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Remind your staff to <strong>NOT<\/strong>\u00a0open any suspicious emails, or click on any attachments, or links in mails sent from an individual they do not know.<br>\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Should an unknown email sender be very determined to prompt the recipient to click on an attachment or link \u2013 this should be seen as a warning.<br>\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make sure your IT team is on top of this and that your company\u2019s anti-virus programs are updated.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Individuals, please take note:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If it sounds too good to be true, it <u>almost ALWAYS<\/u> is. <strong>DO NOT <\/strong>open any attachment or click on a link in an email sent from an unknown individual.<br>\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your bank will never ask you to supply personal information via email. If you are unsure if a particular email came from your bank or not, forward the email on to your bank\u2019s fraud department.<br>\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make sure your antivirus software is updated. We recommend a well-known and reputable brand like ESET.
