Difference Between a ZARC Domain Registrar and Reseller
The option between using Domains.co.za or ZARC is dependent on whether you would like to become a Registrar of .za domains or a Reseller of domains; read more about the Domains.co.za Registrar Services.
A Registrar is a company that is officially allowed to sell and manage domains. In this instance, if you are accredited through ZARC, you would be able to sell and manage domains directly from the Registry without a middle man being involved. This would reflect your company name under Registrar instead of Domains.co.za
A Reseller on the other hand, you are able to sell domains, but not directly as your own company. As a Reseller you would only be able to make use of the Registrar’s Reseller System that is provided by them, and not be able to fix any registrar of registry suspensions if there are any applied.
Simply put, a Registrar can register a domain, and a Reseller can only sell a domain on behalf of a Registrar. Find out more information about becoming a Domains Reseller with Domains.co.za.
How simple is it to use the Domains.co.za Registrar Service?
Very simple, we will advise you as to the required administration and legal documentation that needs to be completed between you and the Registry. Domains.co.za cannot complete this on your behalf, as ZARC (the za Registry) requires this information to come directly from the applying Registrar.
What do I need to become a ZARC Registrar?
Even if you are intending to use the Domains.co.za white label EPP Registrar platform, or developing your own, you will still need the following:
- Administration documentation
- Legal documentation
- Technical documentation
How is the Registrar Technical Accreditation completed?
On completion of the above, the Registrar can send us their Registrar portal details. Domains.co.za will then complete the technical accreditation for the technical test on the development & OT&E platform. This process is generally completed in under 1 (one) business day.
