Additional Information
Email POP Account
A POP account (Post Office Protocol) is an Internet Protocol used to retrieve incoming emails stored on a remote server and download them to a local client, like adding an email account to Gmail.
POP accounts download emails from a hosting provider’s server to your computer, allowing access without an internet connection. It then deletes them unless you have configured it to leave copies on the server.
Benefits include the ability to access and reply to emails without an internet connection, manage and free up space on the hosting server, and open attachments faster since they are already downloaded.
POP vs IMAP
POP is designed for single-device use. It allows emails to be downloaded from a server but only supports one-way email synchronisation.
On the other hand, IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) stores emails on a remote server, enabling access from multiple devices and synchronising any changes made across all devices.
Web Hosting and Email Accounts
Email accounts are included when you sign up for web hosting with Domains.co.za. We will provide you with email accounts using your domain name, like “example@domainname.co.za,” for professional communication instead of using a generic address like:
EXAMPLE: name@gmail.com
Additionally, if you have registered a domain name but don’t have a website yet, you can opt for Email Hosting. This allows you to send and receive emails using your domain name without having to take out Web Hosting, until your website is ready to launch. Domains.co.za’s Email Hosting plans offer secure communication and the option to upgrade your hosting package when your website is ready to go live.
