domains.co.za now has the winning combination as a domain Registrar to be the first South African company to hold International Accreditations (ICANN, VERISIGN, PIR) South African Accreditation (ZARC).
ICANN
In August 2012, DiaMatrix, the holding company for domains.co.za became only the 2nd company in South Africa and the 6th in Africa to receive the International ICANN accreditation. Becoming ICANN accredited is a lengthy and detailed process involving, but not limited to, administrative and technical accreditations and proficiencies.
UniForum / ZARC (ZA Registry Consortium)
domains.co.za / DiaMatrix became the first accredited Registrar on the new ZARC .co.za EPP Platform in September 2011. In February 2012 domains.co.za launched a first-of-its-kind .co.za White Labelled Multi Registrar EPP system. The EPP system is based on international protocols for the creation of Registrars on an EPP platform.
PIR
domains.co.za / DiaMatrix is proud to announce that we are the first Public Interest Registry (PIR) accredited Registrar in South Africa in November 2012 for the .org Top Level Domains (TLDs). Attaining the PIR accreditation for .org is only possible once you have completed and passed the ICANN accreditation.
Neustar
domains.co.za is an accredited Registrar for Neustar Registry, which handles the .biz gTLD (generic Top Level Domain). Neustar Registry is well known as, for more than 10 years, it has successfully managed the .us ccTLD on behalf of the United States Department of Commerce. The business gTLD, .biz, was initially created for businesses to use instead of .com, especially when their preferred .com domain name had been registered by another party. The only pre-requisite for owning a .biz name, is that it is a commercial operation, i.e. not for individual or personal use.
ISPA
The Internet Service Providers Association (ISPA) is the industry body for the South African Internet, and was established in June 1996, although only officially recognised as the Industry Representative Body in terms of section 71 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, 2002 on 20 May 2009. The ISPA is not-for-gain voluntary body representing Internet Service Providers (ISP), in various aspects of the industry. The ISPA is elected from ISPA members at an Annual General Meeting and is entirely funded by the members themselves.
Afilias
Afilias Registry has accredited domains.co.za as a Registrar for their .info gTLD (generic Top Level Domain). Afilias successfully launched the .info gTLD to the global domain market in 2001. This generic Top Level Domain is now the most successful of the seven that were launched by ICANN at the same time and in 2011 had well over 8 million .info registrations.
