Additional Information
- Syncing with Microsoft Exchange: Automatic syncing of your calendar, contacts, and email folders can help you stay organised if you use Office 365 or Microsoft Exchange for your work or school account.
- POP vs IMAP: POP and IMAP are the options available to you when creating non-Exchange accounts. Most people prefer IMAP over POP, because it syncs emails across several devices instead of downloading them to one device.
- Two-Factor Authentication: You may need to create an app-specific password during setup if your email provider employs two-factor authentication (2FA). Ensure you activate this function by following the directions provided by the email provider.
- Customizing Sync Settings: For best results, modify the folder settings, email organisation, and sync frequency under Account Settings after setup.
- Security Protocols (SSL/TLS): When setting up your email, enabling SSL/TLS encryption helps ensure that your emails are transmitted securely. This is particularly important when connecting to public networks.
- Email Signature Setup: After setting up your email account, take a moment to customise your email signature under Account Settings. This ensures your outgoing emails always have a professional touch, with your name, title, and contact information.
Troubleshooting
If you experience issues with setup, ensure:
- You have the correct server settings for your email provider.
- Your password is entered correctly, especially if using two-factor authentication.
- Your internet connection is stable for the syncing process.
Once you’ve completed the steps, your Outlook 2023 or Microsoft 365 will be ready to manage your email efficiently, offering a seamless experience across devices.
