To control email storage limits is essential for maintaining email performance and preventing bounced messages. On Domains.co.za Email Hosting, each email account can be assigned a specific storage quota. Once a mailbox reaches its quota, it will no longer receive incoming messages until space is cleared.
Setting appropriate storage limits ensures fair resource distribution across accounts and helps prevent a single mailbox from consuming excessive server storage.
This guide explains how to control email account storage limits using your Domains.co.za hosting account.

Additional Information
- If a mailbox exceeds its storage quota, incoming messages will bounce back to the sender with a “mailbox full” error. Therefore, it is important to monitor storage usage regularly.
- Encourage users to delete old emails or archive messages locally using an email client configured with POP3 or IMAP. IMAP stores messages on the server, while POP3 downloads and may remove them from the server, depending on configuration.
- You can also configure email clients to empty deleted items folders automatically to conserve space.
- If your organisation requires larger mailbox allocations, consider upgrading your hosting package to accommodate increased storage needs.
